The International Flying Fifteen Canada (IFF) started with me buying Lawrie Neish’s F15 Robin Hood in Sept 2023, sailing my F15 solo (mostly going in a circle as I had no idea how to sail) and craving company.

Well, the Final Fling 2026 has been and gone but it was the biggest and best yet! Over the course of the weekend of 17th and 18th October the Royal Western Yacht Club hosted the Allspars Final Fling bringing 86 entries to Plymouth Sound.

The Victor Trophy delivered a fitting finale to the 2026 GP14 Southern Travellers circuit drawing 24 boats to the Welsh Harp: 16 local crews and 8 travellers, with an even spread across the Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets.

The second Autumn National Open got underway on Saturday 17th October. Racing took place in a northerly 10-17 knots in Weymouth Bay.

Dinghy sailing is captivating, whether pottering or racing. It is also hard on our knees. Although there is no published data comparing sailors with the general public, RYA data attributes 30% of reported sailing incidents to knee injuries.

They did not set out to win the Mediterranean Trophy. They are leaving Malta with the title in the bag. By winning the Rolex Middle Sea Race, the final event of the season, Louis Torreilles and Omar Naas secured the 2026 Class40 Mediterranean Trophy.

Last weekend saw the ILCA fleet returning to Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy for the ILCA UK National Open 5, sponsored by Ovington Boats. With over 160 sailors entered, across the 3 rig sizes it was set to provide an amazing weekend of sailing.
