Notwithstanding it was forecast, wall to wall sunshine made for a memorable inaugural Redwing Nationals over the late May Bank holiday. The big question was, was the breeze going to hold up and provide champagne sailing conditions?

The north of Britain’s most prestigious annual regatta, Jura Scottish Series, may have started in chilly spring temperatures and grey skies last Friday but Loch Fyne and the Kintyre peninsula delivered a blistering hot Monday Bank Holiday finale.

Fourth after the eight fleet races of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta Sardinia, the French team concluded its first official competition in the AC40 class with a remarkable improvement.

This Osprey event took place as part of the annual Coniston Regatta sponsored by Toplex and a host of other generous local firms. 80 dinghies took to the water and the Ospreys contributed 10% of the entries. The event overall was a resounding success.

The trio leading the way today — made up of two seasoned sailors and a young talent who already claimed a stage victory in 2025 during his rookie season — managed to carve out a small breakaway on the 2nd day of 2nd leg of the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec.

Scheduled for Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th September 2026, entries are open for the combined clubs’ Butterfield Jersey Regatta for cruiser/racer, sportsboat, dayboat, dinghy and sport-catamaran classes.

Spring Series 7 was back to perfect A rig conditions in a 6-12 knot SW breeze and sunshine. With some of the 17 entries still on duty the Datchet IOM worlds 12 members attended. Ralph Wilkinson was non-racing RO, getting 16 races in.

The global sail racing championship will arrive in Italy’s capital city on September 11-12, 2027, in the first event of a three-year partnership with the City of Rome and the Lazio Region.

It has been an exceptional month for the XR 41, with outstanding results across a series of major regattas throughout Europe — a clear demonstration of the yacht’s competitive edge and versatility.
