We all know the many beautiful sights that can be enjoyed while embarking on one of the best UK road trips and best European road trips. However, the survey of 2,158 travellers and motorhome owners from across seven European countries, conducted by Goboony, saw 83% say they would be thinking about setting off on a trip to help them to process a life event.

The most common reasons given were retirement (54%) and burnout (50%), but 33% also said they would be considering setting off on tour after a break-up or a divorce, and 26% said they would after the loss of a loved one.

That’s not all, with 19% saying they would view a tour as a way to help them get used to empty nest syndrome.

The chance to switch off and escape from everyday life was also evident, as 39% said they would be looking for a destination where there was no Wi-Fi or phone signal, so they could get away from it all.

The survey also highlighted the impact road trips can have on moods, with 79% of respondents saying they found a campervan trip left them feeling the positive effects for a longer period of time than they would after a stay at a hotel or resort. 81% also said a road trip they had embarked on had made a lasting impact on their lives.
