Continental releases two new tyres that have been specifically designed for motorhomes

Tyre company Continental has brought out two new tyres specifically designed for motorhome and campervan use, with each one catering to different touring lifestyles.

The two motorhome tyres – the VanContact Ultra Camper and the A/S Ultra Camper – have both been designed to cope with such vehicles’ frequently high weights and frequently uneven axle loads – and their long periods of inactivity.

The A/S Ultra Camper is designed for people who like winter motorhoming and want to use their vehicle all year round, in all seasons.

Made of an advanced rubber compound, the tyre has a “functional” tread and sipe design and also features thick rubber blocks, a protective abrasion rib and stable sidewalls. All this is designed to produce even wear, a low rolling resistance and a reliable grip under a variety of road and weather conditions.

The VanContact Ultra Camper, meanwhile, is a summer tyre optimised for use in warm temperatures.

Nicolas Jackisch, product manager for van tyres at Continental, said, “With the VanContact Camper tyre family, we take into account the load profiles and usage conditions of the motorhome segment. Both tyres are designed to deliver high load capacity, stability and safety.”

Don’t forget to make sure you know what the appropriate motorhome tyre pressure is, too.

Take a look at what Peter Baber has to say about Britain’s slowness to embrace the motorhome Aire, either, following recent decisions by local councils to ban motorhomes from parking in what are deemed to be scenic areas.
