This year’s 49er Nationals were once again hosted by WPNSA from the 24th-27th September. With 26 entries spanning from first-timers to Olympians, we welcomed friends from Ireland, Spain, America and Uruguay to join the event.

The final Saturday of the keelboat season started in pleasant conditions with a NNW breeze of about 5 knots, however with the prospect of the wind predicted to drop through out the morning the Race Officers were keen to get both fleets away on time.

GB1 delivered its strongest racing of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Naples, battling at the front of the fleet to secure two fourth-place finishes on the final day.

Eight sailors took to the water on Saturday 27th September, in search of glory and the coveted Start Racing Regatta title. Now in its fifth year, the regatta has become a popular finale to the RYA course which the competitors completed the previous week.
