The Poole Yacht Racing Association wrapped up its inaugural Poole Bay Summer Series on Sunday, 27 September 2026, with Race 5. A competitive fleet of 13 yachts braved a challenging southerly breeze averaging 20 knots, with gusts peaking over 26 knots.

World-class tactics, strong tides, big breezes, and the pressures of a world championship regatta are converging this week on San Francisco Bay for the 2026 World Sailing Women’s Match Racing World Championship, hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club.

The Next Generation Class was created to recognise and reward young sailors competing in mixed-age fleets. Open to sailors aged 16 to 25*, the class runs alongside the Winter Series’ existing divisions rather than replacing them.

For the first time in its history, the 5.5 Metre class is heading to Greece, with the 2026 Scandinavian Gold Cup and World Championship taking place over the next 10 days.

The record-sized maxi fleet of 51 saw Maxi 1 and the J Class racing windward-leewards from the Baie de Pampelonne for a second day, while Maxi 3, 4 and 5 were dispatched southwest on a 28 mile coastal course to a mark off Cavalaire-sur-Mer.

With a lovely breeze and sunshine, 251 crews hit the water determined to give the very best of themselves and their boats. Clearly, it was a day of celebration in the Gulf of St Tropez and the Bay of Pampelonne this Tuesday.

With three races sailed by the J Class at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez all three teams have now won one race each and Rainbow leads the regatta, but only on countback.

We had a different format this year: a race from the clubhouse at the bottom of Hickling broad, across the length of the broad, down Candle dyke, past Heigham Sounds, along the Thurne to Potter Heigham bridge and back, non-stop.

Brazilian sailors Francisco Dal Ri and Erik Scheidt hold the top two positions after the third day of racing at the 2026 ILCA 6 Men’s World Championship in Vilamoura, with two more races completed today.

There are faster boats. There are bigger regattas. There are events with larger fleets. But after ten years at Porto Adriano, the Multihull Cup has developed an identity all of its own.
