Breakfast at Hot Spot Café in Nelson’s Dockyard is becoming a habit — and with a view like this, it’s hardly a hardship.

With spring finally delivering on its promise, Saturday lunchtime brought *beautiful* conditions to the Salcombe ria — flat water at low tide, a warm sun overhead, and what the forecast had billed as light winds.

What started with the commissioning of a 36 foot yacht in 1966 has grown into the shipyard which has produced 2,350 yachts and counting, continuing to lead the way in style and performance on the water.

Luke Rossiter was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and in February 2026 began an intense course of chemotherapy. He set himself an ambitious goal, to complete a solo Atlantic sailing crossing later this year, dependent on treatment progress.

Back in October, 16 Topper 4.2 sailors received the coolest email, inviting us to join the National Performance Squad (NPS) for 2025-26. The email included details of the NPS programme and what our winter would include.

Fourteen members turned out for 15 races in East Kent’s 3rd Spring Series event at Bartons’s Point Sheppey. It was B rigs all round, and Ralph Wilkinson did race officer coaching for each skipper in turn.

The fifth and penultimate day of competition has concluded in Los Alcázares, Spain, at the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy.
