Seven visitors joined the seven local boats for the first leg of the Northwest double header of the Lightning 368 Sanders Sails Travellers Series at Shotwick Sailing club.

Three Redwings and four One-Designs came out to race in a SW4 and lovely sunny afternoon. Positioning the committee boat at Janson, the course was Garland, Ruthven twice round but coming back through the line after the first round.

Racing at Cork Week 2026 got under way in memorable style on Monday 6 July, as early morning sea mist over Crosshaven and Cork Harbour was burnt away by the rising sun, leaving bright skies and around eight knots of breeze for the first start.

A lovely sunny warm day greeted the 23 ILCA sailors on Saturday the 4th July 2026. The wind forecast was the same as it has been recently which left a few sailors sitting at home thinking it was too windy and a few sailors changing down to smaller rigs.

Good sailors have to understand wind patterns and shifts but sometimes the essential source of their boat’s power is so capricious that it can foil the best of them.
