De'Longhi oil-filled radiator

De’Longhi oil-filled radiator was £54.99 now £46.70 – save 15%

A portable radiator might be a necessary addition during a winter tour if the heater in your motorhome doesn’t quite reach every area. A cold spot is just about to put up with in summer, but certainly not in winter. This 500W model shouldn’t drain your power supply too much, and it only weighs 5.5kg, so it shouldn’t eat too much into your payload either. It needs to be connected to a mains socket, but it is easy to carry too. It also cuts off automatically if it overheats.

Ledlenser H4 FR head torch

Ledlenser H4 FR head torch was £49.95 now £37.50 – save 25%

You can possibly just about get away without needing a torch if you only tour in high season, thanks to the long summer evenings we are blessed with in this country. But that simply isn’t an option once the nights start drawing in. You are bound to arrive at a site after it has gone dark, and even if you have come fully prepared there is always going to be some unexpected job that needs sorting out in the darkness.

Such jobs are so much more easily dealt with if you have a head torch too, rather than one you have to hold in your hand or rest some distance away as a lantern. A head torch allows you to focus properly on the job in hand. However – and here I speak from bitter experience – choose wisely before you buy one. Go for a trusted brand, with a powerful amount of light that provides ample focus rather than just background lighting, and most of all go for a model with a charging connection you are familiar with, such as USB-C.

A head torch with its own unique charging unit will obviously quickly become useless if you mislay that unit. Fortunately this Ledlenser model ticks all those boxes,

Ezcasch thermal windscreen cover was £98.99 now £84.14 – save 15%

You might need more than just the blinds on your windscreen or your cab blinds to keep things warm and keep the frost off during the very worst depths of winter. This outdoor thermal cover is designed to fit all Sevel vehicles (so Fiat Ducatos, Peugeot Boxers and Citroën Relays). Some 7mm thick, it attaches by a combination of magnets and Velcro and can be partially zipped open if you want a little bit of sun to get in. It comes in its own carry bag.

Costway 2 Pack traction mats

Costway 2 Pack traction mats was £32.95 now £28 – save 15%

You could of course get bogged down on a soft verge or motorhome pitch any time of the year, given the great British weather. But such an event is that much more likely to happen during the winter months, so to avoid getting stuck you probably need something like these mats.

Made of high strength  TPR with a rustproof steel core, they should provide great traction to help you get out of any stick situation. They can then be rolled up for easy storage.

Bomova electric heated blanket

Bomova electric heated blanket was £47.99 now £37.94

You have to plug it into a mains socket, but this heated electric blanket should keep you warm and cosy both during the night and if you find yourself stuck inside the motorhome for hours on end during a dismal winter afternoon. It not only heats up but feels cosy to the touch too, with a flannel blanket on one side and fluffy fleece on the other. With ten heat settings, and up to 2m long and 1.5m wide, it should provide ample warmth. It also has an auto shut off function to stop it overheating.

Ziweo hand warmer
Image: Amazon

Ziweo hand warmer was £29.99 now £18.99 – save 37%

Perhaps not essential, but easily rechargeable hand warmers like this one can take the edge off a really biting day where you still have to walk the dog or just feeling the cobwebs off. This model provides three different levels of heat, and can be easily recharged via the USB port in your motorhome. That should keep your hands in working order, whatever the weather.
